A checkable route

Two licences, two lookups

The prescriber and the pharmacy have different records. Check both.

Checklist

Check the clinician

Use the state board record, not a badge on a sales page.

  • Get the full name

Ask who will assess and prescribe.

  • Confirm your location

As of September 2026, federal guidance says the clinician must be licensed or otherwise allowed to practise where the patient is located.

  • Open the board record

State medical boards show whether a physician has a current licence and whether public discipline appears.

  • Read the limits

A spotless public record only shows that no public action is listed. It is not a rating of care.

Checklist

Check the pharmacy

The medicine may come from a different business than the one hosting the visit.

  • Ask for its name

Get the pharmacy name before payment.

  • Use the state record

Pharmacy licensing sits with a separate state board.

  • Match the label

When the medicine arrives, compare the pharmacy name with the one you checked.

  • Treat “FDA registered” carefully

As of September 2026, federal registration does not mean a product or facility has FDA approval.

Official lookup doors

These links go to public or standards bodies, not to care sellers.

  1. Find a state medical board

Use the board site for the final licence record.

  2. FDA state pharmacy lookup

Choose the state, then use its official database.

  3. Search FDA agency letters

A letter is a point-in-time allegation, not a final court finding.
